Digital Access at Vision Australia is the leading Australian consultancy in the growing area of web and mobile accessibility. We work with government departments and commercial organisations to provide technical solutions and best practice advice.

The role of Web Accessibility Officer involves assessing websites, intranets and online applications against recognised industry guidelines and developing innovative technical solutions. We currently have positions at our offices in Kensington (Melbourne) and Enfield (Sydney).

This role would suit a recent university graduate or a practitioner with one or more years’ experience in a similar role. You will bring with you a strong technical ability and passion for web standards and accessibility, and be provided with training and mentoring by one of Vision Australia’s experienced team.

Responsibilities:

Conduct both manual and automated (tools based) testing and assessment of web, mobile and desktop applications for compliance with WCAG 2.0.
Develop and test code-based and design solutions.
Undertake research into the support for accessibility by new technologies and devices.
Assist in accessibility awareness training and presentations.

Required skills:

High level of proficiency with HTML, CSS and JavaScript Familiarity with web standards and industry guidelines for web accessibility
Awareness of mobile technologies and devices
Commitment to learning and developing your skills
Results focused, deadline conscious and passionate about delivering excellent quality
Enjoy collaborating in a team environment, and be able to multi-task and prioritise work effectively
Excellent standards of written and verbal communication.
