Job Title: Assistant Manager: Policy & Planning

18 MONTH CONTRACT POSITION

• Total Salary Package: R314 709.00 p.a. (Level 10)

Requirements:
A Bachelor's Degree in Economics or any specialized Economics field (Finance, Econometrics, Mining, Quantitative, Agriculture, Transport, International and Natural Resources) plus a minimum of 2 years' experience in Economic Analysis and Research.

Competencies required:
Knowledge:
Knowledge of the South African and KwaZulu-Natal economy and understanding of basic macroeconomic principles and economic indicators
Knowledge of local economic development and policy analysis and development.

Skills:
Computer literacy (advanced Excel)
Good people skills
Quantitative/statistical analysis skills
Good report writing, project management and strategic management
Interpersonal relations, time management and internal and external stakeholder coordination
Planning and organizing, research, presentation and project management
The ability to interact with people at all levels
Sound stakeholder relations
Analytical and innovative thinking
Advanced verbal communication skills, with' the ability to present in front of an audience.

Key responsibilities:
Investigate the trends and performance of KZN's main economic sectors
Work on quantitative economic research and produce up-to-date and reliable statistics and economic indicators
Track and analyze macroeconomic developments in the provincial, national and global economies
Provide assistance in the drafting, implementation and review of provincial economic development policies and strategies
Contribute to the practical operation of the Unit by taking responsibility for various administrative and organizational tasks, including budgeting and strategic planning.
