Organizational Setting and Reporting
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the United Nations System's designated entity for addressing environmental issues at the global and regional level. Its mandate is to coordinate the development of environmental policy consensus by keeping the global environment under review and bringing emerging issues to the attention of governments and the international community for action. QAS is part of the Executive Office of UNEP and coordinates UNEP's overall planning, programming, project screening and monitoring processes. This post is located in the Quality Assurance Section (QAS) in UNEP, Nairobi. Under the supervision of the Strategic Planning Officer the incumbent will;
Responsibilities
Support the review of programmes and projects submitted to UNEP's review committees.
Organizes the logistics for the convening the programme and project review committees.
Drafts minutes of meetings of programme and project review committees.
Reviews project documents to ensure consistency with the recommendations off the project review.
Performs data entry of data into UNEP's programme information management system (PIMS).
Provides data generated through PIMS for UNEP's half-yearly programme performance reporting.
Updates and maintains information on the section's intranet site.
Performs other duties related to programme assistance as required.

Technological Awareness: Keeps abreast of available technology; understands applicability and limitation of technology to the work of the office; actively seeks to apply technology to appropriate tasks; shows willingness to learn new technology.
Education
Candidates with post secondary school education particularly in an environment or social science field, or in business and administration are encouraged to apply, Higher education in an environment related field is an advantage.
Work Experience
Five years of experience in providing support services for project management
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.
Assessment Method
Evaluation of qualified candidates for this position may include a substantive assessment which will be followed by a competency-based interview.
