Position Summary:
The Supervising Producer is responsible for the editorial and overall supervision of productions under the management of an EP or head of Production. The Supervising Producer would be responsible for supervising series in their 4th/5th seasons, as well as co-productions reversioning. This individual would also be responsible for “social reloads” on repeats of shows on air.
Responsibilities:
1. Provide editorial guidance to producers throughout production process. Independently evaluate production schedules, budgets, treatments, scripts, rough cuts, fine cuts, final screening copies, and other materials.
2. Review and convey timely comments to program producers on all stages of development and production.
3. Work with members of Production team to develop new creative concepts, formats and show ideas to pitch back to Development and Programming teams.
4. Manage the project production schedule for contract compliance and overall project workflow. Track deliverables and communicate fulfillment of production milestones, production issues or changes, to project team members.
5. Maintain constant communication with production company to ascertain the most accurate production information such as production schedule, shoot locations, episode descriptions, credits, scripts, graphics, etc.
6. Successfully manage own workload, prioritizing with good judgment and tracking assignments independently.
7. Demonstrate resourcefulness when making decisions and managing assigned projects. Independently develop and implement solutions to problems.
8. Effectively manage EP in at appropriate moments in the project management process. Demonstrate ability to operate without guidance of EP as needed.
9. Represent company in a professional manner when in contact with external producers and companies.
10. As appropriate, successfully manage creative relationships with Writers, Producers, Directors, Talent, etc., and demonstrate ability to proactively mend creative differences.
11. As assigned, effectively manage growth of staff.
12. Effectively work with and maximize the value of relationships with other DCI departments. Including:
Press/IPR, Programming, Production Management, International, Marketing & Promotions,
Business Affairs / Legal, Ad Sales, Affiliate Sales, etc.
Requirements:
*Bachelor’s degree in related field or an equivalent combination of skills, training, and experience.
*Minimum six (6) years experience producing and/or supervising production of non-fiction, long-form programming for broadcast.
*Proven experience in creating new programming, writing and organization skills, working within prescribed budgets and deadlines.
*A passion for story telling, and an enjoyment and appreciation of crime and investigation programs and current affairs.
*Management experience of production and post-production staff for broadcast series and specials projects.
*Excellent verbal and written communication, leadership and time management.
*Must have the legal right to work in the US.
