The UNOPS Kenya Operations Hub (KEOH) manages morethan 60 projects in around 10 countries of eastern and southern Africa. UNOPS in Kenya helps partners achieve theirproject goals in sectors including: governance, education, health, theenvironment, grant management and rural development.
Functional Responsibilities

Summary of Key Functions:

1. The incumbent reports directly to the Deputy Programme Support Manager.

2. The Incumbent is responsible for the overall maintenance of the UNOPS KEOC premises and buildings

3. Following consultation and agreement with the Deputy Programme Support Manager, the incumbent will carry out all repairs pertaining to:

Electrical services
Carpentry services
Masonry works
Painting works
Plumbing works
Monitoring and running of the generator
Reporting maintenance issues regarding the generator
Ground/Compound maintenance
Reception services
Photocopy duties of the Programme Support Unit

4. The incumbent will prepare a monthly progress report to be submitted to the Deputy Programme Support Manager, as detailed here below:

The Monthly report should include but not be limited to:

The areas visited
Details of work carried out in each of the days
Repairs that are required on the premise buildings
Consumables required for repair to be carried out.

5. On a regular basis, the Incumbent shall visit ALL offices and rooms within the premises to verify what repairs are required. 6. In addition to the general maintenance tasks the incumbent will be required to assist the Logistics and Administration office. More specifically:

Filing of protocol documents
Preparation of monthly utility bills
Messenger duties as required

7. The incumbent will assist in inventory taking of all items and assets in the premise

8. Support in maintenance and repair of ICT hardware.

9. Other Programme Support Unit duties as and when required.

Competencies

Ability to identify and recommend maintenance repairs.
Skills and Knowledge of conducting building maintenance repairs in a timely manner
Written and oral English is a must.
Must have initiative and be a motivated person with well developed people skills and sound judgment.
Must have the ability to work in a team environment and ability to use tact and discretion when dealing with colleagues and others both inside and outside UNOPS.
Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Email.
Demonstrated drive for continuous improvement and incorporation of lessons learned and best practices into business process routines.
Demonstration of professional behaviour and personal ethics, transparency and openness to encourage respect and similar behaviour from colleagues in the work place.

Education/Experience/Language requirements

High school education required.
A Technical Engineering Certificate or a General Fitters Certificate required
At least 3 years work experience in compound, property and/or facilities management essential.
Excellent command of both written and spoken English

Certifications

A Technical Engineering Certificate or a General Fitters Certificate required
PRINCE2 or similar project management certificate on an asset
