PRIVATE SECURITY INDUSTRY REGULATORY AUTHORITY

The Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (PSIRA) with its head office in Centurion (Eco Park) is the statutory body regulating the private security industry in South Africa. PSIRA is looking for a dynamic, experienced and suitably qualified professional to take up the following challenging position. It is the intention of the Authority to promote representivity through the filling of this post

Remuneration: All-inclusive package of R527 781 per annum

Based in Port Elizabeth

The successful candidate must be in possession of a relevant degree or National Diploma, coupled with 6-8 years' experience in a legal and investigative environment and a valid driver's licence. Ideally, he/she will have at least 3 years' managerial experience. The person envisaged for this position should display a great deal of knowledge in terms of legislation that regulates the Private Security Industry in South Africa, such as the PSIRA Act, the South African Constitution and labour-related legislation. Sound managerial skills, good interpersonal, planning and organising skills, and the ability both to work under pressure and interact with clients are also essential criteria.

Duties:
Perform daily operational aspects of the regulatory and administrative functions of the Region, which include inspections, prosecutions, finance and administration, human resources as well as information technology
Liaise and maintain good relationships with security service providers and all role-players in the industry
Manage the entire Region, which includes planning and authorising all regulatory and other activities, compiling operational plans for the Branch in support of the Authority's strategic plan as well as budgeting for and managing expenditure
Ensure staff supervision and development, including performance management and handling of disciplinary matters and grievances in the workplace
Report on branch activities as required, including the compilation of monthly and quarterly reports.
