Organizational Setting and Reporting
This internship will be located in the Scientific Assessment Branch (SAB) in the Division of Early Warning and Assessment (UNEP/DEWA). The internship is for three (3) months with an opportunity for extension up to six (6) months, pending on the needs of the office.
Responsibilities
Assist in undertaking a comprehensive review and internal stocktaking of related data and indicator work at UNEP that could inform the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) process;
Support the Integrated Environmental Assessment (IEA) section in GEO-5 post-assessment evaluation activities including the preparation of documents, on-line surveys, and assisting in the preparation of an experts' workshop etc.
Assist in conducting background research on relevant data and indicators for environmental sustainability, including the identification of possible gaps;
Assist in preparation, formatting and commenting on any SAB project documents;
Assist SAB in general outreach and communication activities related to GEO-5;
Undertake any other assignments in SAB as maybe assigned by the Chief, Scientific Assessment Branch

Education
Applicants must be pursuing qualifications in Environmental Studies, Social Studies or any other similar qualifications.
Work Experience
No work experience is required for internships.
Languages
Fluency in one of the working languages of the UN Secretariat, English or French, (both oral and written) is required; knowledge of the other is desirable. Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage
Assessment Method
Evaluation of candidates for this internship may include a substantive assessment which will be followed by a written test and face-to-face or telephone interview. Potential candidates will be contacted directly by Scientific Assessment Branch (SAB - UNEP/DEWA) for further consideration.
