Role synopsis GPO Construction Vessel Representative (CVR). The BP CVR is responsible for monitoring all operations on the vessel on behalf of BP and has overall accountability for HSSE. The CVR will be the single point of contact for all official communication between BP and the Contractor’s offshore team including HSSE and Quality, acceptance of work, giving instructions, approval of changes, reviewing daily reports, discussing any significant issues and incident investigation. The CVR is the Lead BP representative on the vessel and is accountable to his/her line supervisor for everything that affects BP interests on the vessel. All BP personnel and contracted staff, while onboard the vessel, report to the CVR. While on the vessel, the CVR reports to the Project’s Line Manager, usually The Project Installation Manager.

Candidate will be a full-time BP employee. The BP Project Team will assist the CVR with work monitoring, work acceptance, scope changes and preparation of daily reports.

When vessel work is unavailable, the CVR will work in the office supporting Projects or VVT with planning, Risk Assessments, and vessel assessments. The CVR would likely spend 50% to 75% of his/her time offshore.
Key accountabilities - Championing HSSE and Quality Expectations.
- Active participation or leadership in the development of engineered procedures, Hazard Identifications, go / no-go meetings etc.
- Coordinating on-shore activities to ensure the vessel, personnel and equipment are ready for mobilization.
- Managing offshore operations, including SIMOPs, according to approved procedures based on priorities and schedules determined by an onshore Project Team.
- Ensuring that a vessel is operated in a safe and environmentally responsible manner and in accordance with the vessel contract.
- Ensuring marine and construction operations are carried out according to BP and industry standards.
- Coordinating communication between the Contractor, Vessel Team, Project Team, OIM and CVR Line Management on a daily basis.
- Preparing reports [MoCs, Project Mobilization/Demobilization Plans, daily reports, Project Closeout reports, etc.].
- Approving daily reports and reviewing/clarifying Contractor-prepared daily reports
Essential Education - Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical, civil, marine engineering or related technical degree (including maritime technical degree) or equivalent experience.
Essential experience and job requirements - Ten or more years of offshore installation experience (depending on education) in coastal & deep water.
- Significant experience in surface and subsea installation operations.
- Level 3 (Trusted Practitioner) or higher competency in supervision of AT LEAST one or more of the following.
- Pipelay (reel lay, J-lay, or S-lay)
- Umbilicals and controls
- Heavy Lifting
- Subsea Lifting
- Moorings and pilings
- Platform installation
- Survey and ROV work
Other essential skills and knowledge - Strong leader with ability to advance BP priorities in the face of pressure.
- Team player attitude with ability to motivate and coordinate diverse team.
Self-motivator with the ability to work independently.- Ability to work offshore during construction and/or intervention activities or in the office as project needs dictate.
- Ability to work closely with the project teams and contractors to verify procedures along with Hazard/Risk Assessments are up to the requirements of GPO OMS.
- Ability to work with Vessel Verification Team to constantly improve vessel and MSE verification methods and procedures.
- Ability to prioritize work load.
- Strong health, safety, environmental and regulatory compliance record.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Desirable criteria & qualifications - Marine background with knowledge of construction vessel capabilities and vessel operational issues.
- Familiarity with ROV operations and tools, heave compensation systems, some structural analytical experience and both hydraulics and rotating systems’ competencies are significantly desirable qualifications.
- A Master Mariner’s license and/or DPO certification.
