Job Description
Microsoft Canada is hiring a Principal Technology Strategist (Senior Account Technology Strategist) to cover one of
Canada’s largest Telco’s. This role requires a “Chief Technology Officer” that will work one-on-one with our top customer’s
senior executives & architects in a presales capacity to align their highest priority business needs with the value that they can
gain from their Microsoft investments. This role will deliver compelling MS architecture approaches to meet those needs and
successfully position MS against our competitors. This is a high profile, customer-facing role that is the primary technical face
and orchestration point for this Telco.
Candidates should have a strong, proven IT background and demonstrate familiarity with the broad range of Microsoft
products and solutions. The ATS works closely with the Client Director, Technical Account Managers, Services Executives,
Partner Account Managers and Solution Specialists to help define and execute account strategies. You will be responsible for
developing the account technology vision and strategy to support the overall business objectives for Microsoft and the
customer - and ensuring it is delivered. You will lead technical resources in communicating the value of Microsoft’s products,
solutions and partners to a broad range of people across the account, and drive relationships with technical leaders from
senior executives and down. A strong leader is required to ensure Microsoft deploys its best resources, well-briefed, in front
of the customer. We are looking for a senior, self-starter passionate about making an immediate contribution. The ideal
candidate will have demonstrated the ability to work with senior and executive level management in large accounts, and the
ability to map a customer’s business need to technology solutions. The successful candidate must be able to articulate the
business value of Microsoft software with ROI analysis and position them in competitive scenarios.
Key Accountabilities
Achieve Revenue Targets
DRIVE Customer Satisfaction (CPE)
Create a technology leaders relationship plan
Take over and expand the growing technical peer-peer relationships
Create a winning holistic plan that ensures the customer’s programmatic early access to Microsoft new technologies
Develop deployment and upgrade strategies to keep the customer deploying the latest versions
GROW our platform
Orchestrate monthly project meetings with key customers to ensure close cooperation and collaboration between
customer project teams and Microsoft’s global resources.
Develop a 3 year technology vision and roadmap based on furthering the IO models that supports the business plan
Identify key MUST WIN project areas and resources needed to succeed - including Services and partners
Identify key technical competitive threats and develop a strategy - including partners and services - to counter & win.
WIN new business
Develop a plan to pull through demand for new and subscription products
Actively involve downstream SSPs ATSs and STU and product groups resources
Develop Management Technology Win Plan and coordinate resources to win
Integrate with AM, ATS, SE and TAMs to systematically identify winnable Services opportunities
PEOPLE Success
Execute best practices in virtual teaming
Continue to develop yourself as a technical leader at Microsoft
Develop key relationships with Microsoft product groups
Work with Business and IT decision-makers to understand the customers’ business, IT imperatives, and initiatives

• Broad technical knowledge with deep experience
• Ability to think strategically, then organize people and ideas to execute with excellence

• Passion for understanding of the customer’s key business drivers, technology infrastructure & technical strategy
• Self-starter that transitions easily from working at home to leading large meetings
• Endless optimism, enthusiasm and passion for overcoming seemingly insurmountable obstacles
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
• Essential Experience
• Proven technical and leadership experience in the IT industry (10 years)
• Excellent business acumen - ideally pre-sales experience or consultative selling (5 years)
• Proven ability to develop a vision, strategic plan and execute successfully in a global customer or organization
• Ability to manage executive meetings across time zones to achieve objectives
Technical /Functional Skills
• Broad knowledge of large global enterprise IT architecture, engineering and operations
• Knowledge of Microsoft, and key ISV’s and other key enterprise technologies
• Understanding of Microsoft’s Technical Vision, how to solve business problems
