The Group Product Manager of MSN is responsible for holistically owning and driving the Portal business for Microsoft Online Media and Publishing in Canada. In this capacity, they are responsible for ensuring the short- and long- term in-country success of the total Portal portfolio in order to overachieve on the KPIs and position MSN for sustainable growth, market leader and profitability.

This leader is responsible for the overall MSN Portal Canada business plan and strategy, the GTM strategies and product plans, and is the overall leader and galvanizer across the country organization to lead cross-discipline initiatives that deliver on their KPIs.

They are a deep subject matter expert and internal/external evangelist and spokesperson for their service and business. They possess great depth of product/service understanding and are able to effectively demonstrate through thorough leadership to all local audiences including technical influentials and industry leaders. They possess a deep understanding of their local market including consumer needs, business KPIs, competitive situation, and overall local market dynamics, and utilize this insight to drive action that results in achievement of KPI goals and market position.

They are also responsible for aligning with the Americas region and International MSOMP Teams to ensure local delivery and execution of our global strategies. They are responsible for effective local delivery of the annual BPR plans and KPI goals in their country and for strategic insights into how best to achieve success for MSN Canada.

In summary, the Group Product Manager possess a deep understanding of their local market including consumer needs, business KPIs, competitive situation, and overall local market dynamics, and utilize this insight to drive action that results in achievement of KPI goals and market position. They are responsible for effective local delivery of the annual BPR plans and KPI goals in their country.





Key Responsibilities:

Business Performance Management and Planning: Responsible for deep understanding of the business KPIs and metrics, and on-going performance management for the business. Includes creation of monthly (MBR), quarterly (QBR), half-yearly (MYR), and annual (BPR) performance assessments, actions and business plans.

Acquisition of New Users: Perform audience segmentation analysis to find the people who visit MSN and TMX home page and channels. Drive UU acquisition

KPI Ownership: Monitors all BPR-related KPIs, and works cross team to review progress against KPIs and drive action plans to resolve blocking issues.

Budget: Shared ownership of planning, execution and consolidation of development portion of the market’s Content & Programming (C&P) budget. Acts as primary back up for Executive Producer whenever called upon.

Sales Engagement: Works with sales to ensure sales readiness to sell inventory that will be coming on line as a result of service changes and improvements.

Distribution to Channels: Driver of strategy to push the content through various distribution channels (such as Skype, Outlook, XBOX, Mobile and Social). Identify new content channels and possible distribution deals within the strategy set by EP. Works through Biz Dev team to execute deals.

Content Acquisition Strategy: Works collaboratively (as a reviewer) with the Executive Producer and Business Development team to ensure proposed acquisitions map to overall business strategy.

Product Plans: Contribute to product planning for MSN channels in a structured, mature and timely matter. Ensure plans contain competitive, consumer and advertiser needs from Canadian perspective.

Pricing policy (Rate Card). Responsible for evaluating advertising sales, by property, and looking for opportunities to grow revenue through effective pricing actions.

Spokesperson: The external “face” of MSN in the local market, to media, analysts and industry.

Knowledge and Experience:
Excellent leadership skills and ability to lead cross-functional v-teams to deliver on business KPIs, ability to hold individuals accountable for their commitments and ensure v-team is well organized and committed to delivery of these commitments Ability to galvanize teams and drive action resulting in material market position enhancement.

Excellent business strategy & planning skills, strong strategic thinking skills, superb proficiency in assessing market dynamics (consumer, competitive, market) and creating strategic plans which results in material market share growth. Proficient in overall planning, organizing and coordinating. Strong analytical skills. Ability to understand data and drive actions based on quantitative and qualitative insights/trends.

Strong GTM strategy & planning skills including the ability to translate business needs/plans into effective and efficient market plans. Ability to think creatively about business challenges and build strategic , innovative GTM plans to break through in local market

Passion and depth for consumer services and business. Deep proficiency and fluency of the technology and business drivers. Great understanding of product value propositions and ability to differentiate products locally based on depth of product and business understanding.

Great cross-group collaboration and communication skills and the ability to drive cross-functional v-teams to deliver business results. Ability to partner with geographically dispersed leaders.

Excellent communication and storytelling skills including skillset and comfort performing external spokesperson or evangelist roles.

Passion for consumer technology services, passion for business and market share growth, and strategic competitive challenges.

A love of big challenges and a long-term approach to meeting big challenges based on short-term action.

Drive for results - the ability to translate strategies and plans into winning local action

Required Qualifications:
10+ years of experience in an technology related company or media company;

Great business and product skills including the ability to understand and drive levers of complex businesses;

Ability to define and effectively communicate long term direction/vision priorities to a range of audiences from Execs to technical;

A demonstrated aptitude for leading teams to deliver exceptional business results is a must;

Creative, out of the box, strategic marketing thinker;

Desire to work in fast-paced, intense culture;

Excellent cross-group collaboration and negotiation, exceptional organizational agility;

Able to work independently, reliably and precisely under pressure and deadlines;

Flexible with high tolerance for, and ability to manage, ambiguity and uncertainty.
