Introduction
The incumbent will provide driver services driving heavy trucks in the transport and delivery of mail, furniture, and supplies, including the loading and offloading of vehicles. Overall supervision is provided by the Maintenance Supervisor.
The closing date for this position is January 18, 2013.

Minimum Requirements
à Completion of high school is required.
◊ A minimum of two years of experience driving heavy transport trucks/or water trucks is required.
à A valid Kenyan commercial driving license, class B,C,E is required.
à Level III English ability is required. Kiswahili Level II ability is also required.
Other Criteria
à Must know Kenyan traffic laws and be familiar with traffic patterns in and around Nairobi. Must be knowledgeable on vehicle operation and maintenance
procedures, and have knowledge of radio operation procedures for responding to vehicle emergencies. Must have superior driving skills in operating large
vehicles to avoid accidents and personal injuries.
à Must be able to lift heavy materials for short periods of time while loading and unloading.
Job Specification
BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION
The incumbent will provide driver services driving heavy trucks in the transport and delivery of mail, furniture, and supplies, including the loading and offloading of vehicles. Overall supervision is provided by the Maintenance Supervisor.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 100% OF TIME
Operates a variety of motor vehicles including large freight hauling trucks in the pick-up, transport and delivery of mail, baggage, furniture, supplies and courier material in support of Mission operations.
Operates the water pumper vehicle in delivery of water supplies, including supervising two warehousemen in filing the water tank and discharging water.
Assists warehousemen in loading vehicles and delivery to offices and residences.
Ensures assigned vehicles are maintained in a clean, safe and serviceable operating condition and reports all maintenance problems requiring repair action to supervisors. Completes daily vehicle usage reports.
Remains current on Mission Policy for Motor pool usage and reports misuse of vehicle by Embassy personnel or co-workers.
Monitors the local traffic/driving environment, and takes action to avoid demonstrations, road construction or areas which could pose a danger to the travel of passengers or vehicles.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
