Position Description:
TANZANIA 4-H ORGANIZATION
The Tanzania 4H Organization (4H) is a not-for-profit, non-political and non-religious youth membership NGO operating in Tanga, Arusha, Manyara, Kilimanjaro, Morogoro, Njombe,Iringa and Ruvuma Regions through provision ofpre-professional practical education to youth in and out of schools.
POSITION DESCRIPTION: PROJECT OFFICER
REPORTS TO: Field and Training Coordinator
DUTY STATION: 4-H headquarters in Tanga with extensive travel to other 4-H Regions
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Support the management of program components including, planning of programmes, implementation(field works and trainings)and monitoring of program components, evaluation of programmes, lobbying and advocacy, partner capacity development.
· Ensure that 4-H community is facilitated to implement, monitor and evaluate the project activities for quality and sustainable development
· Work with District/Region authorities, structures and institutions to smoothen integrated delivery of quality services to communities.
· Enforcing stewardship, volunteerism and accountability by ensuring that resources are efficiently and effectively utilized within the project for the intended purpose along with integration and implementation of transition plans for project sustainability.
· Preparation of quality and timely activities and projects narrative, review and financial reports.
· Facilitate the process of high quality programme development by developing appropriate project concept notes and proposals in a participatory manner
· Providing technical support localizationof resources, education and youth entrepreneurship models. Includes leading the coordination and task support entities like zones, districts and clubs.
· Manage the training function (carry out Training Needs Assessments, prepare training plan, implement the plan and feedback) on youth issues as well as facilitating training of community and club members
· Mainstreaming of cross cutting issues (HIV/AIDS, Environment, gender and marketing) into programmes as well as networking with other development NGOs in the area for combined efforts to bring about holistic youth and community development that is transformational and sustainable.
· Organizational development, including program development and resource mobilization for the programs through proposal writing, and training of small holder income generation groups.
· Trainer of Trainers (TOTs) as voluntary youth resource person in agriculture, food security and agri-business to 4H Members and support supervision.
· Establish and manage a data collection system of the youth production activities
· Any other responsibilities assigned by head of Department
QUALIFICATIONS:
· A degree preferably in general agriculture or its equivalent.
· At least an experience in the field of farmer groups/young farmers organizing and developing, training.
· Proven experience in designing and implementing trainings and training materials.
· Proven ability in managing and support staff capacity developing.
· Demonstrated capacity in designing monitoring & evaluation systems and reports in English and Kiswahili.
· Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with a diverse array of people.
· Extraordinary initiative and innovative with strong interpersonal skills and experience in leadership positions and pays attention to detail
· Have an attraction to serve young people
· Willingness to travel
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION:
· Degree in Agriculture General or its equivalent
· Computer literacy
· relevant experience in agriculture and business
