Purpose of job:
Ensuring that the bank's products and services are not abused by money launderers, and to ensure the on-going capability to detect and report suspicious transactions.

Key result areas:
Action workflow
Management of all assigned alerts and workflow on the Anti-Money Laundering Surveillance System.
Daily Analysis
Analyse suspicious transaction reports (STR) received via the system and manually (from branches; business units; subpoenas and external stakeholders). Apply good knowledge of processes, systems, products, procedures, distribution channels and customer segmentation to analyse these reports. Request / obtain any additional information and documentation needed to make high quality decisions.
Regulatory Reporting
Determine within the Regulatory requirements whether a report needs to be submitted to the Regulator (FIC) or if alert to be closed by applying sound judgment skills. Submission of detailed reports to the FIC.
Record Keeping
Keep records of all documentation and information provided regarding the STR. Ensure that all STR's files are filed correctly to allow for easy retrieval.
Data Integrity
Accurately capture all data on the STR file and the management information systems (MLS Database and AML Surveillance System) as required.
Systems
Understand the banking source systems and ability to interpret output received in the investigation and analysis process.

Qualifications:
Post Matric qualification is essential.
University qualification in the areas of law Investigations or forensics is essential.
Certificate in Money Laundering Control or similar qualification would be an advantage.

Experience required:
Three to five years experience in the areas Anti Money Laundering, Risk, Fraud detection or Investigations environment.
Good working knowledge of the banking environment, systems and procedures would be an advantage.
Good working knowledge of forensics, fraud or money laundering legislation would be an advantage.

The ideal candidate will have the following competencies:
