Responsible for: Academics section for CIE

Job Purpose: To share the leadership across the school in the CIE section in all aspects of the management, development and monitoring of pupil performance in line with the requirements of the School Academics.

Key Responsibilities: To work in partnership with the Principal and when nominated act upon her behalf to:

• Ensure the vision for the school – CIE section is clearly articulated, shared, understood and acted upon effectively by all the members of the staff.
• Demonstrate the vision and values in everyday work and practice
• Motivate and work with others to create a shared culture and positive climate
• Ensure creativity, innovation and the use of appropriate new technologies to achieve excellence in teaching methods for the International curriculum
• Ensure a consistent and continuous school wide focus on pupils achievement, using data and benchmarks to monitor progress in children’s learning for all students undertaking the International curriculum.
• Ensure a culture and ethos of challenge and support where all pupils can achieve success and become engaged in their own learning
• Implement strategies which secure high standards of behaviour and attendance amongst both students and teachers.
• Determine, organise and implement the International curriculum from the Cambridge International Examinations (CIE)
• Take a strategic role in the development of new and emerging technologies to enhance and extend the learning experience of pupils
• Monitor, evaluate and review classroom practice and promote improvement strategies through class observations and studying relevant reports.
• Challenge underperformance at all levels and ensure corrective action and follow up is done either through remedial classes, or counseling.
• Ensure the retention and withdrawal policy on academic grounds is effectively implemented at all levels
• Develop and maintain a culture of high expectations for self and for others and take appropriate action when performance is unsatisfactory
• Produce and implement clear evidence based improvement plans and policies for the development of the school and its facilities
• Be a part of the recruitment of staff in terms of resource identification and organization of demos and assist staff to manage their workload to achieve the vision and goals of the school.
• To lead the supervision of the science lab resources and activities
• To coordinate with the lab technicians to ensure all the resources are available at the right time either through purchases or renting.
• To manage and organize all teaching resources for the International Curriculum and ensure they are effectively utilized by the relevant members of the staff.
• To supervise all librarians and lab technicians of the school.
• Communicate with parents on any academic issues concerning the student.

- Overall performance in the International curriculum
- Availability of relevant human and other resources for enhancing the teaching of the international curriculum
Experience / Knowledge required:
- Minimum Degree in education
- 2 Yrs experience in similar position.
- Good Management and Leadership skills
