The position overseas implementation of data management and M&E activities in accordance with guidelines stipulated by the funder and the Government of Kenya and regularly updates project staff on progress towards implementation of the work plan and designing methods for demonstrating program outputs, outcomes and impact. The Tea Research Institute of Tanzania (TRIT) was established in 1996 as an autonomous organization representing the Government of Tanzania and the tea industry. Its duty is to support the continued development of the tea industry, both large and small scale producers, with appropriate high quality, cost effective research and technology transfer. The candidate will be reporting directly to the Chief laboratory Technician.

Qualification

Holders of Full Technician Certificate Grade I or equivalent in the area of electricity or electronics coupled with hands on experience in maintaining/repairing electronic instruments.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The candidate among others will be responsible mainly in maintaining/repairing sophisticated electronic laboratory instruments such as Atomic Absorption Spectrometer (AAS), Gas Chromatograph (GC), High Pressure Liquid Chromatography HPLC, Flow Injection Analyzer (FIA), and Near UV/Visible Spectrophotometer.

To install, maintain, repair, overhaul, calibrate and tests a wide variety of laboratory instruments that are installed or will be brought at TRIT soils and plant analytical laboratory when required.

Troubleshoots electrical wiring and installation at various facilities installed and TRIT headquarters including water pumps, standby generator sets, computer servers, modems and other electrical equipments

To make periodic preventative maintenance inspections of all electrical instruments, diagnosing existing or potential trouble; cleans, lubricates, calibrates and adjusts as conditions indicate.

To respond to emergencies related to electrical fault at any of the facilities and instruments installed at Ngwazi Tea Research Station.

Duration

Two years renewable contract.

Program Overview
Pathfinder is seeking a Senior Technical Advisor for Community-based Programming to support the Community Care and Social Services Strengthening for HIV-Affected Populations in the United Republic of Tanzania project.

The goal of this five year project is to strengthen community care and social support systems, improving access to comprehensive services for people living with HIV, OVC and other vulnerable populations. Within the context of the Tanzanian HIV/AIDS epidemic, community care and social support systems refer to structures and mechanisms used by communities to interact, coordinate and deliver home-based care; social protection and welfare for OVC and other vulnerable populations; legal services; nutrition support; mental and psychosocial support; and referral and access to health services and follow-up. The project will support an implementation model that builds on existing governmental, private sector, and community programs, enhancing the delivery of the continuum of care services.

Position Purpose

The Senior Technical Advisor for Community-based Programming will provide strategic vision and technical leadership to carry out community mobilization initiatives to discourage harmful traditional practices, encourage male involvement, gender equity, healthy timing and spacing of pregnancy (HTSP), girls’ education, partner communication and women’s empowerment. S/he will work with local stakeholders (e.g., local government agencies, health facilities, NGOs, women’s groups, religious leaders and other influential community leaders) to strengthen community systems with the aim to improve the local environment for community care and support of HIV-affected and other vulnerable populations.

Key Responsibilities

Strengthen the capacity of local leaders and health care providers to undertake problem analyses and think creatively to propose new and non-traditional ways to mobilize resources and increase community-level buy-in to sustain high quality community care and social support services.
Build local capacity to improve public sector systems and management, and mobilize community resources to expand basic knowledge about HIV prevention, care and treatment, OVC, child health and nutrition, and the need to ensure resilient referral networks and social safety nets.
Provide support to community leaders to increase access to community health and social welfare service by making these services more widely available through community-based clinics, market-based agencies, community-based agents, workplace providers, schools and religious institutions.
Create and guide community-led opportunities for leadership, skills development, advocacy and resource mobilization to sustain community-based health and social welfare services.
Develop messaging to increase community awareness of living with HIV and healthcare management.
Facilitate dialogue and engagement of key stakeholders and groups to strengthen understanding and engagement in local government planning and policy.
In collaboration with the Programs Department, identify potential gaps or deficiencies in program performance (within Pathfinder and amongst implementing partner organizations), and develop technical tools and approaches to address these gaps.
Provide technical input to strengthen relationships between health care facilities and clinics, and the communities they serve to improve quality of care, patient respect and the overall health service delivery environment.

Advanced degree in international development, social services, public health or related field.
7 + years’ experience implementing health and/or social sector programs in developing countries, preferably Tanzania, with at least 5 years’ experience providing technical assistance at the community-level.
Demonstrated experience in program design and integrated approaches to community-based activities including BCC and advocacy.
Recent, hands-on experience working effectively with local partners, civil society and faith-based organizations, community leaders and local government authorities to build local capacity and carry out social empowerment, advocacy, and initiatives to support HIV affected and other vulnerable populations.
Experience in designing, implementing, and monitoring USAID supported health programs.
Proven ability to create and maintain effective working relationships with host country national and local level government officials, stakeholders, INGOs, implementing partners and U.S. government agencies.
Excellent inter-personal and communication (verbal and written) skills.
Expert computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Fluency in spoken and written English required.
Willingness and availability to travel in-country up to 25% time, and internationally as needed.
Familiarity with the political, social, economic and cultural context of working in Tanzania.

APHIAplus Nairobi/Coast is a cooperative agreement with Pathfinder International and is managed by USAID/Kenya’s Office of Population and Health (OPH).

This project is one of five regional service delivery mechanisms under the APHIAplus Service Delivery awards.
APHIAplus stands for AIDS Population and Health Integrated Assistance – People-centered, Leadership-focused, Universal access and Sustainability. The Implementation Framework envisioned these projects supporting delivery of critical health services at the provincial and district levels while working in coordination with USAID-funded national-level technical assistance partners.

Position Summary: Under this task order, MSI’s national Team Member shall work closely with the Evaluation Team to conduct a final Performance Evaluation of the APHIAplus Nairobi/Coast program.
Findings and recommendation will inform USAID, the GOK and other stakeholders on what has worked, what has not worked and why.
Recommendations will also shape strategies, approaches and activities for the follow-on program design.
The period of performance of this task order will start from May 6, 2013.
The evaluation will take place in Nairobi and Coastal regions where the APHIAPlus program has been operating. **This is a local position.

Introduction:
The BMW dealership, Leo Haese Centurion, is recruiting a Diagnostic Technician who will ensure that the preparation, servicing and repairs of all vehicles within the workshop are completed aptly as per service standards. The successful candidate will also be responsible for leading and mentoring Apprentices within the workshop.

Minimum Requirements:
Senior Certificate (Grade 12)
Completed BMW Diagnostic Technician qualification is essential.
A minimum of 1 years' experience as a Diagnostic Technician within the BMW dealer network.
Driver's license
Computer literate

Job Specification:
Responsible for vehicle diagnoses (engine electrical DME)
Responsible for vehicle diagnoses (fuel systems, diesel fuel systems, automatic transmissions )
Responsible for vehicle diagnoses (steering and brakes)
Ensure all job cards are updated accurately
Responsible for technical / non technical assistance to workshop staff
Attend general departmental meeting and maintain good housekeeping

Essential Functions and Competencies
•Able to become proficient in debug techniques on electronic assemblies/sub assemblies in a manufacturing environment involving Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) •Demonstrates basic analytical skills •Basic understanding of Test Measurement and Debug Techniques •Excellent written and verbal communication, as well as, presentation skills •Effective interpersonal skills •Effective multitask skills and ability to take on additional responsibilities as required •Effective organization and prioritization skills •Demonstrates high attention to detail •Demonstrates discretion, confidentiality, and professionalism when representing the company •Works with diverse groups •Supports a 24/7 global business operation as required •Able to work overtime when needed •Participates in a continuous improvement activity •Demonstrates the ability to use a volt meter, power supply, and oscilloscope

Qualifications / Education / Experience
•Performs debug and test of assemblies as able to component level utilizing block diagrams and schematics. •Performs tester maintenance and upkeep. •Aids operator in troubleshooting problems as able. •Training and ongoing support to the Test operators. •Communicates problems to proper senior Test Technician, Test Engineer and/or leader. •Develop skills and knowledge with test platform(s). •Complies with quality assurance policies and methodologies; develops and strong quality orientation. •Maintains a clean, safe, work environment and follow all published/posted safety standards (daily use of ESD and safety protective devices: eye protection, smock, and foot straps).

3+ years experience in electronic diagnosis experience

2 year technical degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
